Anatomy of My First Cubs Game

Find street parking and then take the bus
the rest of the way, while enjoying
the amazing homes in Wrigleyville.

Arrive early for 25% discount on Chicago
dogs and to get our free Cubbies cereal bowls.

Yup, it is my first cubs game. Check out
the roof top bleachers. Creative homeowners
making a lot of money.

Settle in for a great game

while learning the names of the players.

Enjoy a beautiful sunset

that turned into a huge and beautiful
thunder and lightning display.

Staying dry

for a 90 minute rain delay

and a fantastic "keep the field dry" production.

The Cubs were first up after the game started
again . . . and scored 6 runs. (Sorry, no pictures of me yelling very loudly.)

Final score ~ 11 to 3

Go Mariners, I mean Cubs!

  4. Loved the pictures! Looks like a happy family!

A thunder and lightening show at a ball game can be very exciting! We were at a Phillies game once...was so hot at the beginning of the game, then a fierce storm can through, lightening everywhere...after the storm the temp dropped so drastically we froze the rest of the game....that was one for the memory bank!!

    Have a great day!

  5. Looks like your first visit was a success! You are official Chicago residents now! My husband and son are at a Phillies game right now...probably sitting through a rain delay.

Looking forward to more adventures in your new home town.

  10. I love going to baseball games. Last time we went to see the Dodgers in San Diego and it was a blast. We ordered 20 hot dogs because my entire family was there!

  15. What a fantastic family outing Glenda! Rain or shine, it looks like you all had a great time. Now that I have seen that hotdog, I fear I will be thinking about it all day long. I used to love the hotdogs at Fenway Park in Boston...nothing like it anywhere else :) Go Red Sox!

  16. The underlying themes of this post are profound really. The example of entering in to where you are now in a Phil 3:13 spirit, the together in fun of your family and the delight of nature having a call in the game...all very well portrayed. But did you really eat one of those "things" you pictured? Well once in a while...right?

Thanks for your visit on "bread" I am wondering if you read my essay on writepurpose? I worked on it hard enough that I am unabashed about needing it to get read....and I don't know if 2nd blogs show up to folks?

  19. What a great outing!! I used to be a huge baseball fan but have not watched in years ~ of course my team was the Toronto Blue Jays and I will never forget the first time I watched at the SkyDome ~ it was a memorable evening for sure. So glad you enjoyed yourself.

  20. Great food, seat, a lightning display, and rain – This was quite a memorable first game for you! But in spite of it all, I’m glad that you had a blast! This looks like you’ll be in for the next game/season. And maybe you can wear your favorite team uniform as a sign of support. What do you think?
