Simple Summer Pleasures

Sometimes it is the simplest pleasures that bring joy to a summer night.

This plate of strawberries was joined by Dave's grilled chicken and veggies and a simple cucumber salad. It was followed shortly by fudgesicles on the porch and a few rounds of banana grams.

Thanks, Christy, Jenny and Wendy for joining us on this beautiful summer evening.

What are you enjoying this summer?

  1. I'm planning to find strawberries and blueberries at the Saturday market. And we are longing for tomatoes but they are a few weeks away. Your comment about fudgsicles took me back to childhood on the porch waiting for "Jerry, the Popsicle Man" to come by ringing his bell. I usually chose the fudgsicle but, at times, the dreamsicle won. I think I'll sit on our porch today. It is to be a nice day in the neighborhood.

    Best,

  2. Hi Glenda, this too reminds me of those childhood times, would you believe my mother still keeps fudgesicles in the freezer for the grandchildren & great-grandchildren!

  4. Sounds like the perfect summer menu Glenda! I am still transitioning between winter in New Zealand and summer here. I think I can better answer that one in a few days time!

    Best wishes Glenda :)

  6. Hi lovely,

Well, I'm having fun reading your sneaky post that came up on Google Reader...which I guess you've then removed because I can't find it. How's your handsome prince these days? I thought it was a LOVELY post.

  7. What a gorgeous photo! Makes me almost want to dive into that plate of strawberries . . . almost (have I ever mentioned that I don't like strawberries plain like that?).

  13. What a great picture! I am enjoying berries, watermelon, grilled burgers, lovely weather...I am so blessed! Thank you for sharing, Glenda.

  14. The berries look so yummy! A slower paced life is on the tab for us. Though it is passing quickly, some time to work out, and quiet mornings to do uninterrupted Bible Study.

  15. Oh Glenda...each summer is much like the last... filled with family, friends, neighbors, good food, porch sitting and, this year, a horse shoe pit so we all can throw a few shoes. This week I've fed someone, other than just Dave and I, at least three, perhaps four evenings. It's a lot of work but so much joy to share a meal, on the front porch, making memories and deepening friendships.
    God is so good!
