Happy Summer Giveaway

To celebrate the wonderful season of SUMMER, I am hosting a jewelry giveaway and you get to choose which piece you love the most. But first let me introduce you to the jewelry maker, my friend Jeana. . .

"Hello! My name is Jeana Linhart and I live in a cute yellow house in a quaint little town in Oregon. I have a handsome and brilliant husband, who is a high school teacher and a super dad. We have three hilarious little boys who provide tons of material for our family blog Linart Live.

Ever since I was a little girl I've been passionate about creating beauty. In fact, I remember many afternoons as a teenager, hanging out at Glenda's house with her two daughters making huge poster board sized collages out of cut up magazines. Glenda had a really good stash of magazines and introduced me to Good Earth Tea, which is still my very favorite tea to this day.

My jewelry making career started during the Christmas season of 2008. We were strapped for cash but still wanted to give gifts. So I started taking apart all my jewelry and mixing the elements around to create new pieces. My work was a hit with the women in our family and pretty soon they started calling me up saying things like, 'So-and-so saw the necklace you made for me and she wants one just like it!'

I chose the name Ruby Willow after a funny conversation with my husband. I told him that I just wanted a name that sounded pretty and represented me but not in an obvious way like "Jeana's Jewelry." So he started saying things like, "You have big hair. How about Big Hair Jewelry!" From there it evolved into a parody of The Song of Solomon. "Your teeth are like a flock of goats. Goat Teeth Jewelry! Your lips are like red rubies. Your hair is like a weeping willow. You are a Ruby Willow." I was laughing so hard but through that laughter, Ruby Willow was born.

I opened my etsy shop in January 2009 and I strive to make beautiful, relevant, affordable pieces of jewelry. It's important to me that each design reflects some element of nature. After all, I am only a creator because I was created in the image of The Creator. I want my work to be a reflection of His. With three boys I often feel the need to have something girly, so I also work hard to make each piece soft and feminine. But my deepest desire for my jewelry is for the wearer to feel beautiful wearing it."

Well, now that you have met Jeana, (isn't she cute!) I want to show you the two pieces that she is offering today. And the fun part, if you win, is that you get to choose.

Choice one: THE NEST NECKLACE

"The Nest Necklace can be customized to represent families, or children/grandchildren, friendships or simply a love of birds nests. I use fresh water pearls for the eggs and each nest can hold up to four eggs. As an alternative, I can also use round Swarovski crystals to represent birthstones."

Choice two: THE FAMILY LEAF

"The Family Leaf necklace is a modern take on the family tree. I hammer each leaf to fit however many birthstones are needed. But this necklace doesn't have to be about birthstones either. I made one for myself with graduating shades of green and it always gets lots of compliments."

Just leave a comment, telling me which beautiful necklace you would choose. Jeana is also offering a generous discount of 20% off anything in her etsy shop or custom pieces you order (enter the code GgTake20.) This will be good for two weeks. Thanks so much, Jeana.

I will annouce the winner on Thursday, July 28. I hope you are having a great summer.

  8. Oh I would love the one with the birthstones. I have always wanted to get a birthstone necklace or ring or something with my 4 kids and mine and my husbands birthstones on it but I always seen to have to spend extra $$ on something like braces or hip surgeries and that falls to the back burner, so if I was to win that is what it would be. I can't wait to go over and check out her shop too, I loved both of these pieces.
Great work-very talented. Thanks for the contest and a chance to win.
    Hugs

  24. Glenda, it's so nice to meet Jeana and have the opportunity to win something so pretty. Thank you for the chance!

I'm catching up at your blog, as we've been in summer travel mode, and it's still not over. I have a conference next week and less than a week after that's over I'm flying north to visit my sister. July is a crazy (in a good way) month for me! And that's how summer goes for my family.

I'm SO excited about your daughter heading overseas, you must be so proud! And I love the artwork you framed to keep yourself in the right "frame" of mind. LOL

And I'm so happy to hear your dad is recovering and improving. What a huge blessing to hear him pray--especially for news anchors! :-)

I always enjoy your blog, Glenda, it's so warm and homey. I feel like we're hanging out with a nice cup of tea and chatting with you. You are a delight!

And now I will end the longest blog comment EVER. *grin*

  35. Glenda,
Somehow I lost track of your blog for quite some time but I'm happy to be back following you again! :) And I spent a lovely chunk of time catching up on your posts over my morning cup of coffee in my favorite mug. :) Jeana's jewelry is beautiful and so is the story of how her business was created and named. My favorite is the nest necklace. Many blessings to both of you beautiful and creative women!!
