My neighborhood Logan Square Starbucks

I have been to many coffee shops around the world. Going out for coffee is my favorite thing to do. "Mug of white" at Bewleys in Ireland, "flat white" at Costa Coffee in England, "coffee melange" at the Junfrau in Switzerland ... I like them all.

Since moving to Chicago, we have loved exploring all the wonderful coffee shops ... Ipsento, Metropolis, Intelligencia etc.

But sometimes ... when I am missing my friends in Seattle, I really just want a Starbucks. (Always a tall no-foam latte for me.)

Our neighborhood Logan Square Starbucks was rather the ugly duckling ... until last week. It just opened after several weeks of remodeling.

full of beautiful murals of Logan Square homes

Want to meet me there?

  1. I'd love to meet you there. This morning we'll get our coffee in the lobby of the Wingate in Biloxi...heading out to the French Quarter in New Orleans this morning :) Bet we'll find a cool coffee there with our beignets :)

  4. I am not a coffee house person. Maybe it's because I've always just enjoyed black coffee, no frills...and about two years ago I completely switched to decaf. I'm a freak, I know! As I write this I am on a business trip, in Sacramento, CA at the Citizen Hotel downtown. The room has a Keurig coffee maker so I'm enjoying Green Mountain Coffee's Vermont Country Blend Decaf and a Clif bar. I'm good. On my way to this morning's meeting I'll probably stop in a La Bou and grab another plain, black decaf. As I said...a freak.

  10. Since I saw it in it's ugly stage, it is fun to see it in it's remodeled stage. It looks great. What did they do to the back room....or is that where the murals are? I did like that other coffee shop we walked to when Starbucks was closed. How fun to know exactly what you are talking about. I hope I get to actually enjoy a tall, non-fat, 1 pump vanilla, extra hot latte again someday there at Logan Square.

I am sure you had fun in Seattle, but happy to be back home in Chicago! Have a good weekend. Sister Sue

  11. We lived in Washington for a couple years. I really miss all the drive through coffee shops there. I don't think I knew what it meant to love coffee until I lived in Washington! I think I'd really enjoy sharing conversation over coffee with you.

  12. Glenda, I drink latte as well...it's the only way my poor stomach can handle the acid.
Latte is half coffee, half cream...right? I get confused -smile-

  13. Ah, you miss Starbucks in Seattle. Then I won't tell you I'm in Portland, OR, where Starbucks abounds, alongside Tully's, Pete's, and a coffeehouse on every corner. :) And even inside the grocery stores and Targets and other retailers, you know there's a Starbucks. So glad to hear your local one has remodeled! And I'd meet you there or anywhere for a cup of whatever! Me? It's usually a vanilla latte with all the frills removed -- decaf, fat-free, sugar-free -- it's called a "where did all the fun go?" latte! :)
