| some of my planning supplies |
My day was relaxing and perfect. Menus planned for Thanksgiving, two birthdays and Christmas ... December calendar coordinated ... and my on-line orders done.
Simple always works best for me!
Please do not be discouraged if you cannot manage a whole day for planning. Even an hour or two will help:
*sneak away to Starbucks after
you tuck your kids in bed
*designate a lunch break or two
for planning
*while your kiddos are in Awana,
stop at the cupcake shop and
plan away
*trade a few hours of kidsitting
with a neighbor
*get up an hour early two days
this week and and sneak back
to bed with coffee and your
calendar
You get the idea ... an hour or two of planning will relieve a lot of holiday stress.
And now for the winner of Katharine's Advent devotion, Walking to Bethlehem ~ the lovely

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Enter His gates with Thanksgiving,
And His courts with praise.
Give thanks to Him,
Bless His name.
For the Lord is good;
His steadfast love endures forever,
And His faithfulness to all generations.
Psalm 100:4,5
Glenda, I'm giggling...for me to "sneak away to a Starbucks" entails more than a 200 mile round trip!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Alicia; enjoy.
And I thought that I lived far from a SB's! LOL
DeleteLoving your ideas for gaining those two hours for planning. I sometimes do this sort of 'thinking' when the children are doing their homework. We all sit around the dining table together!

i feel so good about the planning i've done too! i love the planning part of events :) you have such realistic advice for mamas.
ReplyDeleteI love your getaway tips. I have a hard time concentrating at home and tend to procrastinate on matters at hand, so maybe I will make a date with myself. Of course I won't wear my PJ's!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
I'm planning my "day" for Friday after Thanksgiving. I'll be staying in my cozy robe all day!! We'll have turkey sandwiches.
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving to you and all of your dear ones.
Best,
Bonnie
Congratulations to Alicia! Thank you Glenda for your words of encouragement and wisdom as always. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat ideas! Sometimes a little time away from life makes all the difference. My sweetheart and I ran away to the Oregon Coast (Cannon Beach!) last Friday. Just the little pick-me-up we both needed. Visions of sugar plums and cranberries and Christmas trees and wrapped gifts were all set aside for a time. Now the planning has begun and we are so much more rested than we would have been. Glad your day was a success!

Glenda great words of encouragement to get those to do lists checked off in time!

Thanks for the reminder to plan in small chunks. I took some time while my daughter was at choir tonight. I was by myself and it helped immensely for a project that I was working on. So now I will need to do the same for Project Christmas!
ReplyDeleteI admire your organized self =)
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving, Glenda!
Wow! Glenda, I was just thinking about climbing in the attic to haul out my Christmas boxes and find my advent resources... guess I can just watch my inbox instead :) Sounds far easier. I'm excited to enjoy the devotional. Thanks :) Happy Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteOOps.. guess you need my email address .... rbruxvoort@iowatelecom.net
ReplyDeleteAlicia won! Yipee! And a pajama day? I'm in!
ReplyDeleteCouldn't agree more... a little bit of planning goes a long way to help with stress! :)
ReplyDeleteI love your ideas. And I agree that a little bit of planning can make a BIG difference.
ReplyDeleteWhen you say "on-line orders done" does that mean food orders or all of our on-line holiday shopping done? Either way, I'm impressed! :-)
Fabulous idea Glenda! I must write that down for next year. Are you a December baby too. Mine is 4 days before Christmas.
ReplyDeleteAs a busy working mom, wife and daughter, loved your ideas on sneaking in time for planning...grace, encouragement and kindness!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Lisa
Glenda, you have the best commenting followers. I think Pajama Day should be a national holiday. :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful tips! I also love the idea of pajama day. I hope you have a wonderful holiday. Blessings...Mary
ReplyDeleteI've been planning in my head for a few weeks and actually started today. Things got off to a slow start but I ended up happy with what I accomplished. I'm trying to stay natural and neutral. I couldn't help myself though and threw in a few pops of red! Hope you had a lovely weekend...enjoy your Sunday. ~Ann
