Spam comments on my blog have been so annoying lately. Since I have my comments sent to my e.mail, I see all of them and remove them right away. But it takes a lot of time.
Is this happening at your site, as well?

No, it's not. But you get much more traffic at your blog than I do. :+) Sorry about the spam.

ReplyDeleteAnd, lest you think I'm losing my culinary edge, let me explain. As a child, our next door neighbor (who had no children) would have me over for lunch occasionally. She always gave me Spam on white bread with mayo and sweet pickle relish. I loved it. And, she let me have a Dr. Pepper too. I haven't had a Spam sandwich since then. As for spam, I do occasionally get a random posting asking me to link my blog to a world-wide food site. I just delete it. I've also gotten a few blogs to pop up that I've never subscribed to. That is harder to figure out.

Spam is a delicacy in Hawaii and I've learned to like it having hated it as a child in wartime! But the kind you speak of is no fun. We had the guestbook closed on our website for that reason. I have enjoyed catching up on your blogs. God bless, Eva
ReplyDeleteI have same problem. I get all excited that I have 5 emails - then totally deflated that all are spam...but I fear that if I use the 'type this word' thingy no one will bother to comment at all. But I do have fond memories from childhood of 'Spam Fritters' !

ReplyDeleteGlenda, at times, it seems there's a rash of spam so I go to comment moderation or...shudder...that thing were one has to peer at the screen and guess at the password and numbers. So, I do that for a while and then...viola!...when I go back to no moderation, etc. the spam has stopped.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny, I think blogspot does a pretty good job of filtering out spam. Those comments don't usually reach my actual post, but instead go into the spam folder. But there are a TON of spam comments in there!

I have been lucky on this blog. But my old blog, which I haven't posted on in over a year, still gets multiple spam comments a day!

ReplyDeleteI was getting spam daily as well, and it was horrible. I finally put the captcha stuff back on for the time being. I'm not a fan of it, buy like it better than spam! I have family members that do not have blogs and read mine. Do you know if I take off the Anon. Comments, can they still leave comments?
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry, Glenda! I've gotten a few spam comments myself. The most annoying ones for me is when I subscribe to comments to other people's blogs, and THEY get spam comments and it comes to MY email. Blah. I'm going to try the no anonymous post option. Hmm...sounds like a plan! My favorite is when I get these vague comments in broken English about how great my blog is and a link to some site that sells shoes or pills or whatnot, lol!

How annoying and exhausting to deal with the spam comments - I hope that it ends soon. I have not had trouble with it - and pray that I don't. Hope your next week will be better in that regard.

ReplyDeleteI was getting TONS of it for a while. They I turned off the "anonymous" option for blog comments and they stopped immediately. I still review comments before I post, but I'm much happier not getting those infuriating spam comments every day. :)
