Little Goat

When I first met my friend Bonnie, food blogger at From a Writer's Kitchen, one of the many questions I asked her was, "where do you guys like to eat in Chicago?"

She told me then about Little Goat. I do not know why I kept forgetting about it, because you already know that Dave and I like to explore and enjoy fun eating establishments.

Last week, Bonnie mentioned it again on facebook right when Dave was taking Thursday off. Bingo ... just the time to go. We had breakfast there this morning and loved it. (Thanks, Bonnie.)

Top Chef winner, Stephanie Izard, began Little Goat and its fancier version, The Girl and the Goat.

As you can see, it was a beautiful fall morning in Chicago ... and a lovely diner.

We loved it. It is crazy, as everything was delicious (including Stumptown coffee), but my favorite thing was the toast. Seriously, the best toast.

We ordered off the rather traditional Early Goat menu. Our very cute and smiley server was glad we enjoyed our breakfast and sweetly suggested we try something a little more adventurous next time.

(It must have been my subtle influence on Mr. Adventure.)

  1. What a treat! I have been wanting to go to The Girl and the Goat ever since I read a write up in the Times last spring. There is supposed to be a 3 month wait, so I am thinking of making reservations for my birthday. Thanks so much for sharing, I was curious about the diner.

  3. What? You didn't have a cinnabun? Andrew and I shared one the first time we were there. It was actually large enough for four to share!! So glad you like it. Yes, next time be more adventuresome!!

    Best,

  5. Sounds delicious. RB and I love to eat at small downtown places when we travel. Our rule is that we don't eat anywhere we can eat at home. I was wondering the other day if you had read "We laugh, We cry, We cry, We cook." I just read the first few pages but I think it's going to be good. A mother/daughter wrote it.
