My 61st Birthday

By the time one turns 61, one should know what they want to do on their birthday. For the past several years, I have decided exactly what I want my day to look like.

Now, do not get me wrong. I do not want to do the work ... I just tell my family and they do it.

Here is what I wanted for my recent 61st birthday ...

1. something delicious for breakfast

Dave's homemade apple strudel
2. coffee with Dave and the girls

can you tell whose hand is whose?

3. a light fresh lunch with an afternoon at home

made by Christy

4. dinner downtown at Epic Burger
 5. a great movie together
sweet and intense

It was perfect ... everything I wanted. And, this year I asked for no presents. There was nothing I needed for wanted. (and Christmas was right around the corner)

Try it out on your next birthday.

What would your perfect birthday look like?

  1. Sounds like a lovely day, Glenda. Mine is in two days and I'll have a massage in the afternoon, we'll meet our local kids for dinner out (including our two grandgirls) and then we'll go to a lecture at a local church from a biology prof, who is a friend, and the new president of the seminary I attended. Different for me, for all things I love. Perfect.

  2. I think the most perfect part of your birthday were those four smiling faces around you!

    Best,

  4. I'd make a pancake breakfast on the beach for my hubby and grandsons...just the grandsons, no parents. They are SUCH gentlemen when their parents aren't around :)

  13. Happy belated birthday Glenda! I'm older than you by 6 months! Sounds like a wonderful day. We don't need any more "stuff" at this point, do we? Time with family is the best. That's what we did for Christmas this year. We bought gifts for the children but then the rest of us just put our money in a pot and did something fun together. It was great and a lot less stressful.

  18. Glenda, Happy Belated Birthday, your day sounds perfect! Especially the hamburger part...I adore hamburgers. My perfect birthday, well, it's in April and I'm a double fool (the 11th) and would include living near enough to my family and friends so I could host a cook-out where we could all be together. A fabulous find at a thrift store would make it just about dang perfect!
