Grant Fink and the Lake County Captains

My sister, Sue and her husband, Rich have been visiting from Spokane. We four have been friends for so many years and love hanging out together.

We celebrated July 4th, a belated birthday lunch for Sue and of course, this ...

meeting Lillian

Then it was time to get away from the city for a wee bit. We headed to South Bend, IN, taking our time to enjoy some fun spots along the way.

Do you know what famous university is in South Bend? Here is a little clue.

"touchdown jesus"

The main purpose for our trip was baseball. Not just any baseball, but the Lake County Captains. Our nephew, Grant Fink, plays for this single A minor league team. (go, grant)

And boy, did he play.

Grant's two game total included: 3 singles, 3 doubles, a home run and 4 RBI's. He had 7 hits in 9 at bats.

Grant sweetly called me, "good luck charm Glenda." But I know I had nothing to do with it. (although I do pray for him often) It is his years of hard work and skill. He is known to be a player with integrity, too. That makes this aunt proud.

Go, Lake County Captains. Go, Grant.

  1. What a blessing to be with family! (I gotta find those 'with your name on it' Coke cans!

  2. Tell Dave I made his pecan pie muffins and my husband and I liked them very much ....though I am going to tweak the recipe a little next time...less sugar and maybe a bit of ground oatmeal flour. How they works I will let you know.
Speaking of sugar...have you seen the video of the man who cleans the rust off his car bumper with coca cola? Seriously....
Sweet to see you in these family pics... Seems like the auntie and the nephew are both blessed.

  3. What great fun! Sounds like you had an exciting weekend. :) Good times make for good memories, that's for sure. Thanks for sharing a bit of it with us.

  4. Glenda, sounds like you had a very special time with your sister and her husband - a gift from God! Have a great rest of July!

  5. You're so lucky to have a sister! And good for Grant!

  6. Great, fun times! Was this your sister's first time seeing Lily? I can see the sister resemblance!

Our lakehouse is just a half hour northeast of South Bend. Still, I've never been to a Notre Dame game. I'm not the football type.

I got a little caught up with you and wanted to send my condolences to your dad.

    Jane xx

  7. Oh, sweet Lily! How is it possible that she has grown so fast? My sister is one of my best friends, too. ~Pamela

  8. What cheer this post has brought me. Good, dear friends of ours have moved away recently. So this post reminds that the friendship doesn't stop even with miles between. Plus, I love baseball and miss watching my son play. Happy days.

Let's chat.
