Day 10 ~ Art Journaling

Friends often say that I am creative and an idea person. I love a good idea. But I am not really creative in the arts.

So when I took Brene Brown's e.course, The Gifts of Imperfection, I was curious about the art journaling portion.

I did not want to spent the money on the really cool art supplies that she recommended, so I went to my favorite store, Target, and headed to the kids department. I bought inexpensive art materials from a great company, Kids Made Modern and the fun began. (markers, colored pencils, colored tapes, watercolors etc.)

Here are a few of the bits and pieces that I made. And even after the class was over, I still get my art supplies out and have fun. Creativity breeds more creativity.

Have you ever tried art journaling?

  1. Hallo,
I love being arty (drawing, painting etc) but I've never tried to do art journal-ling. Can you explain what it entails? Amanda livinginafrica.net

  2. I love that you can show up in life through your art. We lose so much when we become adults that it is so fun and inspiring to create as if we were free and child-like - and I love what you have created!

  3. I love your creativity shown in these! Art journaling is a great way to step out of your comfort zone. I think it can be very rewarding for a writer.

I love your Genesis 1:27 piece!

  4. Yes, I went to a short workshop about it at a musical festival a couple years ago. I think it's the neatest thing and I love the example you showed.

  6. I, from time to time, journal. More often, I jot things down helter-skelter and love coming across them at unexpected times. I'm not an artist though. Line drawings are about all I can manage. I'm loving spending each day "with" you.

    Best,
    Bonnie

  8. Love your post! And your art journaling...I am not much of an artist; but I love to color - yes, a 63 year old loves to COLOR - I usually use colored pencils or markers rather than crayons; unless I am coloring with my grandkids! I was wondering where you got the graphic "woman" on your blog? I love it!!
